According to a lot of Bolts fans on social media the sky is falling... the Bolts are doomed.
I want a update on Hedman. They said he did not go in for concussion protocol after hitting the back of the refs helmet with his face. I wonder if he broke his nose or worse broke his jaw. Hopefully its nothing too bad. |

Isles played the day before also. For some reason I cant explain, they have played very well on the second game of back to backs. Lightning are stacked top to bottom and will be in the cup finals this year. Isles will be there the year after next. |

If the Islanders thrash the Lightning in their next meeting, at the Nassau Coliseum on February 1st, there might be more to glean since the Lightning will have had a night off to rest. But last night, the problem seems obvious. The Lightning flopped.
You do realize that the islanders also played night before right?

The Isles played a relentless and solid game with very limited mistakes. The Bolts were tired and vulnerable. In most cases, the Lightning score their way out of trouble at some point. As a fan, I have learned that a 1 or 2 (or sometimes 3) goal defecit is nothing to panic about with this team. The Bolts can score 2 or 3 goals in as many minutes when the PDO fountain is flowing.
In this game, the Isle puck pursuit was better, their checking was smarter, and their goalie was hot. Make no mistake, the Bolts had quality chances and Greiss made the key saves.
Great teams can't win every game through an entire season. There are no unbeaten seasons in the NHL. The Isles deserved this one. The Lightning didn't bring their A game and the PDO well ran dry. The Bolts couldn't score their way out of trouble this time. |
